First garbage-based fertiliser plant underway

The Binh Duong Water Supply, Sewerage and Environment Company started construction of the garbage-based compost fertiliser plant, the first of its kind in Vietnam, in the southern province of Binh Duong on Dec. 5.

The 6.7 million EUR plant was financed through official development assistance from the Finnish Government.

The plant, with a daily capacity of 420 tonnes, is part of a wastetreatment system in the Nam Binh Duong waste treatment complex.

Tran Thanh Liem, Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee,said that the project aims to make full use of garbage for recyclingand fertiliser production for the local agroforestry sector, whiledealing with a large quantity of garbage in the locality.

The Nam Binh Duong waste treatment complex receives over 700 tonnes ofgarbage and over 80 tonnes of hazardous waste from industrialproduction a day./.

Infraction levels will correspond to fines of 1 million VND to 80 million VND, depending on the nature and number of invoicing violations.
