First foreign-funded power project in North Vietnam inaugurated

Lao Cai (VNA) – The Lao Cai Renewable Energy JSC (LCRE) on June 8 inaugurated t he Coc ไSan hydro-electricity plant, the first foreign-funded power project in North Viet🍬nam.
Located in Bat Xat and Sa Pa districts in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai, the 29.7 MW plant was built at a cost of 50 million USD invested by Infraco Asia, a Singaporean-based company .
All the three turbines of the plant were connected to the national grid on April 29, expected to contribute 120 million kWh of electricity annually. The plant is offering 130,000 locals access to sustainable power at affordable costs.
Vietnam’s demand for electricity grows about 15 percent on an annual average, with hydropower accounting for 44 percent of the national electricity output.-VNA
Several individuals of the rare amphibious species, named Ca coc san in Vietnamese and known scientifically as Echinotriton asperrimus, have been found living on Hem mountain at Thanh Son district, the northern province of Phu Tho.
The Coc San hydro-electricity plant, the first foreign-funded power project in North Vietnam, will start generating power in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai on June 8.
According to targets adopted at the fifth Party Congress of the Management Board of the Ho Chi Minh City Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority (HEPZA) on June 22, the zones aim for average capital attraction of 8–10 million USD per hectare, with a 70% disbursement rate of registered capital achieved on schedule.
