Festival honours Vietnamese, Czech cultures

A festival on Vietnamese and Czech cultures and cuisines was held in Jesenice town in the Czech Republic’s central region on May 21, attracting hundreds of locals and Vietnamese expatriates.

 Prague (VNA) – A festivalon Vietnamese and Czech cultures and cuisinౠes was held in Jesenice town in the CzechRepublic’s central region on May 21, attracting hundreds of locals and Vietnameseexpatriates.

The festival, initiated byauthorities of Jesenice town and Vestec village, introduced Vietnamese cultureto local people, said Alexdandra Kochova, Head of the Culture Desk of JeseniceTown Council, adding that it also helped the Vietnamese community gain insightsinto local culture. The Vietnamese in the localitiesbrought to the event art performances featuring Vietnamese cultures, such asQuan ho (love duet singing), among others. Vietnamese cuisines, exhibitionson modern Vietnam, culture and charity activities of the Vietnamese in the CzechRepublic were on display at the event. Meanwhile, local culture was introducedthrough various folk performances by local people. Similar activities will be heldin the future to enhance the ties between locals and the Vietnamese community,said Dieu Linh, a representative of the Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic and Head of the Vietnamese organising board. Some 100 Vietnamese families arecurrently residing in Jesenice town and Vestec village, 30 kilometres away fromthe capital city of Prague.-VNA
