HCM City (VNA) - Thousands of high school pupils and university students in HoChi Minh City showed off their English language skills during the English Camp2018 held at Saigon University on March 24.

TheEnglish Camp 2018, the third edition of its kind, was organised by the Ho ChiMinh City Students Association under the theme “Ticket for future”.

Itcomprised numerous activities, including English tests, games, exhibitions, andseminars. Numerous scholarships for English courses were introduced during theevent.

Accordingto the organisers, this year, the festival was open for high school pupils anduniversity and college students alike in the city. It aims to encourage them toimprove their English proficiency, find an effective method to learn thelanguage and express themselves in a confident manner.

LeHoang An, a student of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said helikes English and usually learns it via Youtube and his friends.

TheEnglish Camp 2018 is a helpful playing field for English learners, where theycan share their learning experience and methods, An said.

Thefestival also presented opportunities for participants to sign up for onlineEnglish clubs and find effective English training courses, he added.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
