Hanoi (VNA)ღ - With the spirit of honouring sustainability and environmental responsibility in using natural and recycled materials, many collections left a bold impression after the opening night of the Aquafina Vietnam International Fashion Week 2023 on November 8 in Hanoi.
Designer Vu Viet Ha created water paintings on unique designs on the stage at the opening night of the Vietnam International Fashion Week. With the capacity to process materials completely by hand, the designer created “Song To” (Silk Waves), which portray the graceful beauty in each unique new wave of silk.
The sublime impressions reached climax as the first drawings were sketched and unveiled by Ha on the opening night. In just 30 seconds, a watercolour painting in shades of blue and white gradually appears on a silk background.
Aiming for sustainable fashion values, the designer brought to the fashion week unique handwoven designs, showing a journey of transforming characteristics from rough to shiny and soft silky material.
For the first introduction to the audience at the Vietnam International Fashion Week, the collection "An Xu May May O - A new shirt" by designer Cao Minh Tien told a beautiful story of brocade and mountainous people. The designer aimed to convey the traditional values of the material with a new and modern spirit.
With the spirit of “#ShapingTheFuture” honouring sustainability and promoting environmental responsibility in using natural and recycled materials, the collection has left a deep impression. Its eye-catching costumes bear the breath of Northwest culture. Inspired by traditional craft villages, the collection honours the beauty of brocade with impressive shapes, combined with denim.
Brocade patterns became a highlight, harmoniously combined with modern denim fabric, turning the catwalk into a cultural space imbued with the Northwest mountains and forests.
Not only refreshing brocade material in a youthful and practical way, the designer said he is in wonderment of how to promote national culture closer to young people and in daily life.
Tien works to uphold the mission of integrating traditional materials imbued with Vietnamese cultural identity into the world fashion flow. Not only shaping the fashion style of many famous artists, an indispensable colour in Cao Minh Tien's design career is impressive costumes for children. The combination between fashion and sculpture by young designer Phan Dang Hoang also impressed the audience.
Hoang is known for his debut digital show of his new collection “Sculpture” on the Milan Fashion Week official website in September.
His collection combines Eastern inspiration with Western culture to celebrate the courage, freedom, and passion of female sculptor Diem Phung Thi (1920-2002). She is featured on the list of great talents in the Larousse Dictionary of Twentieth Century Art.
Hoang created 30 "fashion modules" based on the sculptural art of assembling and transforming seven geometric modules by artist Diem Phung Thi, from which to "sculpt" a unique collection.
