Dong Nai (VNA) – Agricultural products are mainexport commodities of Vietnamese businesses in Dong Nai province while FDIfirms here favour the shipment of products of processing, manufacturing andelectronics industries.

The southern province has raked in more than 6.6billion USD in export revenue since the outset of 2017, a year-on-year increaseof about 11 percent, according to the provincial Department of Industry andTrade.

Over 5.7 billion USD, or 87 percent, of the sumcame from export activities of FDI enterprises whose goods with biggestturnover include footwear, fibre, computers, electronic products andcomponents, and machinery.

Meanwhile, domestic enterprises mostly shipped abroadcoffee (nearly 240 million USD), cashew nuts (over 110 million USD), and pepper(13 million USD).

The industry and trade department said althoughindustrial products bring home high export value, it is very difficult forVietnamese businesses to compete with FDI firms since they lack capacity andexperience in global markets.

As Dong Nai, part of the southern key economicregion, is home to a number of high-quality farm products, domestic companiesshould optimise this advantage and coordinate with farmers to exportagricultural products, it added.

Central agencies should learn more about foreigndemand for agricultural products in order to set up appropriate orientationsand help producers access potential markets, the department noted.-VNA
