EVN sees sharp drop in power loss

Power loss in Vietnam Electricity (EVN)’s systems has reduced sharply over the years thanks to the firm’s efforts to better manage the power network, especially in transmission and distribution.

Hanoi (VNA) – Power loss in Vietnam Electricity(EVN)’s systems has reduced sharply over the years thanks to the firm’s efforts tobetter manage the power network, especially in transmission and distribution.

Last year, the EVN saw 6.9 percent power loss, 0.3 percentagepoints lower than its target, and completing its five-year plan a year prior tothe deadline.

In 2019, it aims to reduce the loss to 6.7 percent and to6.5 percent in the future.

Since 2015, the firm has seen improvements in power lossreduction, from 7.94 percent in 2015 to 7.57 percent in 2016, and 7.24 percentin 2017.

According to Prof. Tran Dinh Long, Vice Chairman of theVietnam Electrical Engineering Association, the reduction of power loss in the recent 10years has shown the EVN’s great efforts, helping Vietnam become a leadingcountry in terms of low power loss.

Prof. Long added that power loss in the power system largelydepends on investment in the network, requiring a long process of modernisation.-VNA

Under a draft to amend and supplement the Government's Decree 125/2020/ND-CP on administrative sanctions for violations of tax and invoice regulations, the Ministry of Finance has proposed classifying the failure to issue invoices into five different levels. Infraction levels will correspond to fines of 1 million VND to 80 million VND, depending on the nature and number of invoicing violations.
