E-customs system to begin in early April: paper

The Japan-funded Vietnam Automated Cargo and Port Consolidated System and the Vietnam Customs Information System (VNACCS/VCIS) will officially operate from April 1, the Party's Nhan Dan online newspaper reported.

It cited the General Department of Customs as saying that theoperation of the systems is a significant breakthrough for the sector increating favourable conditions for export and import activities.

Whileit takes 6-15 minutes for the current e-customs procedure to check andcomplete customs clearance for each consignment, the application of theVNACCS/VCIS will help reduce the process to a few seconds.

Japangranted 33 million USD for the VNACCS/VCIS to help Vietnam build anelectronic customs clearance procedure (e-customs) system and implement aone-stop customs system.

The move aims to assist and promotebilateral trade between Vietnam and Japan, and create better conditionsfor foreign investors as well as developing e-customs and implement aone-stop customs system that links Vietnam with other ASEAN countries.-VNA

Under a draft to amend and supplement the Government's Decree 125/2020/ND-CP on administrative sanctions for violations of tax and invoice regulations, the Ministry of Finance has proposed classifying the failure to issue invoices into five different levels. Infraction levels will correspond to fines of 1 million VND to 80 million VND, depending on the nature and number of invoicing violations.
