Duyen Hai 1’s first turbine connected to national grid

Turbine No.1 with a capacity of 622.5 MW of the Duyen Hai 1 thermoelectricity plant in Duyen Hai district, the southern province of Tra Vinh was successfully connected to the national grid on January 31.

According to the Management Board of the Duyen Hai Power Centre, the turbine will experience a test run till July 25.

Comprisingof two turbines with a total capacity of 1,245 MW, the Duyen Hai 1plant is expected to generate about 7.8 billion kWh of electricity peryear.

Using modern technologies and equipment, the plant is ableto meet requirements of productivity, stability and safety inoperation, and environmental protection.

The coal-fired powerstation is one of the four plants forming the 4,308 MW Duyen HaiPower Centre, which has a total investment of 5 billion USD sourcedfrom the Power Generation Company 1 under the Electricity of VietnamGroup.

Covering an area of 878.91 ha in Duyen Hai district, theproject includes four coal-fired themo-electric power plants usingtraditional steam-condensed turbine technology. It is part of theNational Electricity Development Planning in the 2011-2020 period andbeyond.-VNA
