Dong Nai prosecutes 20 persons for disturbing public order

The People’s Procuracy of Bien Hoa city, the southern province of Dong Nai, has prosecuted 20 persons for disturbing public order when demonstrating against the draft law on special administrative-economic units last month.
Dong Nai (VNA) – The People’s Procuracy of Bien Hoacity, the southern province of Dong Nai, has prosecuted 20 persons fordisturbing public order when demonstrating against the draft law on specialadministrative-economic units last month.

Disturbing public order is an offence stipulatedin Article 318 of the Penal Code.

According to the indictment, at about 10am ofJune 10, many people carried banners and placards to object to the draft law onthe special administrative-economic units of Van Don, Bac Van Phong and PhuQuoc. They moved along National Highway 1A from Tan Bien ward to Pham Van Thuanstreet of Bien Hoa city.

During the rally, many protestors chanted andencroached upon the road, causing traffic congestion and public disorder. 

Reaching the intersection of Pham Van Thuan andVo Thi Sau streets, about 300 people gathered at this area, continuing to blockthe traffic. Some of them shouted and caused disturbance, leading to trafficjam on many other roads nearby.

Although authorised forces persuaded thedemonstrators to keep order, many of them refused and went on with disturbingactions, the indictment said.

In response to the extremist behaviours, policeput 52 protestors into temporary detention. After investigation, they asked theBien Hoa procuracy to prosecute 20 of the arrested persons.-VNA
