The southern province of Dong Nai aims to build a safe city that protects women and girls from sexual harassment and violence.

Dong Nai (VNA) – The southern province of Dong Nai aims to build asafe city that protects women and girls from sexual harassment and violence.

This is part of the province’s project on tackling gender-based violence in2016-2020.

The province will raise awareness, enhance capacity and responsibility of localauthorities about gender-based violence while paying attention to groups usingviolence and those vulnerable to gender-based violence.

Law enforcement will be shored up and a system of gender-based violence preventionand response services will be devised.

The province aims for all victims to receive timely support and 70 percent of abusersto be detected and punished rationally.

It will also organise communication activities on preventing gender-basedviolence and school violence in 90 percent of local secondary and high schoolsby 2020. Training on preventing school violence will be provided for teachers, studentsand parents.-VNA
