HCM City (VNA) – Deputy PrimeMinister Truong Hoa Binh extended his Christmas greetings to Catholic andProtestant dignitaries and followers in Ho Chi Minh City on December 20.

The Deputy PM had separate meetings withArchbishop of HCM City Archdiocese Bui Van Doc, Cardinal Pham Minh Man – formerArchbishop, and Pastor Phan Vinh Cu, President of the General Confederation ofEvangelical Churches of Vietnam (Southern).

Binh took the occasion to recognise thesignificant contributions of Catholics and Protestants to the country’ssocio-economic-cultural development.

He said the Vietnamese Party and State alwaysrespect and work to ensure the right to freedom of belief and religion as wellas create all favourable conditions for religious activities within the legalframework.

Archbishop Bui Van Doc promised to continuouslyencourage parishioners to follow the State laws and policies and actively participatein patriotic emulation campaigns.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Pham Minh Man wished peaceand prosperity for the country.

Pastor Phan Vinh Cu pledged to encourageProtestant dignitaries and followers to join production activities, charitycampaigns and poverty reduction efforts./.
