Hanoi (VNA) - Standing Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh has urged stronger inspection and supervision of long-delayed projects to ensure strictness, transparency and progress.

Deputy PM Binh, head of Steering Committee 751 on the settlement of difficulties and obstacles in stagnant projects, chaired the committee's meeting on September 5, which focused on discussing outcomes so far this year and key tasks for the remainder of 2025 and beyond.

According to Deputy Minister of Finance Do Thanh Trung, since its consolidation in April, the committee has completed a heavy workload, including launching a database on the public investment system (System 751). This platform enables ministries and localities to update project data, ensuring consistency and transparency while helping identify key obstacles and solutions.

So far, 2,991 problematic projects have been recorded, grouped into 16 categories, with seven requiring resolution at different levels of authority. Numbers are expected to rise as data updates continue.

The Ministry of Finance has provided advice for the issuance of six official dispatch directing review, classification and reporting of projects, along with five guidance documents urging updates to System 751.

Four task forces have also inspected projects in nine provinces and cities, helping clear obstacles for several major works, Trung added.

Deputy PM Binh commended the committee’s proactive work and requested the Ministry of Finance to incorporate members’ feedback into its report for submission to the Government and Politburo.

He stressed the need for continued strict and timely inspections, urging ministries and localities to accelerate reviews and reporting in line with instructions.

Earlier, in a working session with the Standing Board of the Party Committee of the southern province of Dong Nai, the Deputy PM highlighted that tackling stalled projects is a major policy of the Politburo, which has approved a pilot mechanism in five provinces and cities. Initial results have been positive, with other provinces seeking similar measures.

🀅 Dong Nai alone has 255 long-delayed projects requiring urgent solutions to remove bottlenecks, accelerate implementation and spur growth. The committee will draw lessons from this pilot phase for nationwide rollout./.
