– DeputyMinister of National Defence, Sen. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh made a courtesycall to Chinese Minister of National Defence, Sen. Lt. Gen. Wei Fenghe duringhis working trip to China from February 19-22.

Vinh said the purpose of his visit is to promotehigh-level exchanges between the two countries’ armies and build bilateralcooperation plans in the fields of military medicine, human resources training,search and rescue, defence industry, and involvement in UN peacekeepingactivities.

He asked the Chinese defence ministry to provideequipment for search and rescue forces as well as engineer corps joining UNpeacekeeping forces.

Wei Fenghe said China attaches great importanceto its comprehensive strategic cooperative relationship with Vietnam.

The collaboration between Vietnamese and Chinesearmies has been expanded over the past few years with positive developments andmore practical cooperation mechanisms reached, he added.

The official accepted the invitation of Ministerof National Defence Ngo Xuan Lich to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time.–VNA
