Hanoi (VNA) – Department of State Reserves has issued a dispatch to its sub-departments nationwide instructing them to remain on duty around the clock in response to Typhoon Kajiki, the fifth storm arising in the East Sea so far this year.

The dispatch asked for round-the-clock duty shifts and constant monitoring of storm developments to ensure timely preventive measures against heavy rain and flooding.

Warehouses and national reserve stockpiles are being reinforced, with strict safety protocols in place to protect people, assets and stored goods. Sub-departments are also tasked with coordinating with local authorities to prepare rapid responses and to manage any emergencies that may arise at facilities.

Sub-departments currently importing or releasing reserve goods must ensure safety of staff, assets and supplies.

Resources, including manpower, transport and essential commodities, are to be readied for swift distribution to storm-hit localities under the directions of competent authorities. Any obstacles must be reported promptly to the central office.

♔ According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the storm is expected to make landfall on late August 25 afternoon, impacting coastal and inland areas from southern Thanh Hoa to northern Ha Tinh./.
