Dak Peur-Nam Lyr border gate seeks international status
Leaders of Vietnam’s Dak Nong province and Cambodia’s Mondulkiri province have proposed upgrading Dak Peur-Nam Lyr from a major border gate to an international one.

DakNong (VNA) - Leaders of Vietnam’s Dak Nong province and Cambodia’s Mondulkiriprovince have proposed upgrading Dak Peur-Nam Lyr from a major border gate to aninternational one.
Thegovernments of Vietnam and Cambodia agreed to upgrade Dak Peur (Dak Nong) -Nam Lyr (Mondulkiri) from anauxiliary border gate to a major border gate in August 2007.
Overthe past years, the flows of goods and people travelling through the bordergate have been on the rise. Since the beginning of the year, around 13,500people travelled via the border gate while Vietnam’s export turnover through itexceeded 205 million USD.
Attheir talks on November 8, leaders of Dak Nong and Mondulkiri provinces agreedto ask for permission from the two governments to upgrade the status of the DakPeur-Nam Lyr border gate in order to develop infrastructure and facilitate thetravelling of people from both nations.
ViceChairman of the Dak Nong People’s Committee Cao Huy said the upgrade of theborder gate will create favourable conditions for socio-economic developmentnot only along the shared border but also in the two provinces.
Themove will also facilitate the cross-border travelling of people, two-way trade,investment attraction and coordination in ensuring border security and fightingcrimes, he added.-VNA
With the operation of Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone, cross-border trade between Vietnam and China and local socio-economy have improved.
Improved infrastructure and simplified administrative procedures have made border-gate economic zones in the northern provinces of Quang Ninh and Lang Son bordering China stand out in attracting a large amount of goods through the border gates.
