Da Nang to vaccinate high school students late this month

Da Nang (VNA) – Vice Chairwoman of the Da NangPeople’s Committee Ngo Thi Kim Yen has asked the municipal health andeducation departments to build a plan to vaccinate students aged from 15 to under 18with the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine on October 26 – 29.
At a meeting of the central city’s Steering Committee forCOVID-19 Prevention and Control on October 22, she said that accordingto the education and training department’s plan, first-, ninth- and twelfth- graders will goback to school on November 1, with all students following suit on November 8.
Yen said the city will receive 100,000 doses of the Pfizervaccine in the near future.
At the meeting, the committee reported that Da Nang posted no new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours to 1pm on October 22.
As from July 10 to date, the city logged 4,692 infections,with 8,768 people tested for COVID-19 on October 22.
Currently, Da Nang has four locations being under lockdown,55 people returning from pandemic areas put under quarantine at concentrated facilities, and 862 others quarantined at home.
The city has so far given 999,744 doses of COVID-19vaccines, of which the first doses accounting for 97.6 percent and the seconddoses 16.6 percent./.
The central city of Da Nang aims to give at least one COVID-19 shot to all local residents over 18 years old within September, said Chairman of the city People’s Committee Le Trung Chinh at a meeting of the municipal Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control on September 7.
Da Nang has been giving COVID-19 vaccinations for foreigners and overseas Vietnamese living in the central city to ensure they are injected at least one dose, said an official on September 21.
The central city of Da Nang aims to complete giving two shots of the COVID-19 vaccine to all residents over 18 years old by the end of this year, according to the city’s Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control.
A total of 3,646 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Vietnam in the past 24 hours to 5pm on October 20, along with 72 more deaths, the Ministry of Health announced.
