Da Nang to host activities to mark ASEAN’s 50th anniversary

The central city of Da Nang plans to organise a series of activities throughout the year to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (August 8, 1967-2017).

Da Nang (VNA) – The central city of Da Nang plans to organisea series of activities throughout the year to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (August 8,1967-2017).

The activities include an East-West Economic Corridor- Da Nang Trade andTourism Fair 2017 from August 11-16, a conference on the ASEAN Community andfree trade agreements between ASEAN and partners, and an ASEAN Tourism Spacefrom August 10-14.

At the same time, Da Nang will launch a contest on the 50th founding anniversary of ASEAN for high school students in September, and anASEAN tertiary education festival on September 16.

An international conference for young researchers at economic andbusiness universities will be held on November 3.

The activities aim to promote the development process of the ASEAN overthe past 50 years, thus raising the public awareness of opportunities that theassociation can bring to residents of the member countries, as well aschallenges that the member states are together dealing with currently.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
