Da Nang (VNA) – Secretary of Da Nang Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang and a delegation of city officials on April 13 visited the Lao Consulate General in the city to extend greetings on the occasion of Laos’ traditional New Year festival (Bunpimay).

The Da Nang leader took the occasion to highlight the development of the special traditional friendship between the two Parties and States of Vietnam and Laos as well as the cooperation relationship between Da Nang and localities of Laos.

He said this year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (September 5, 1962 - September 5, 2022) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Vietnam and Laos (July 18, 1977 - July 18, 2022). They are meaningful events for the two countries, Quang said.

The official hoped that the Consulate General of Laos in the city will continue to accompany the city to further develop the friendship and cooperation between Da Nang and Lao localities in all fields.

For his part, Viengxay Phomachanh, Consul General of Laos in Da Nang, thanked the city leaders and people for their consideration.

He said that the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations and the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association, in collaboration with the Lao Consulate General and Dong A University, have organised a Bunpimay celebration with many cultural exchange activities, contributing to tightening the friendship between the two countries.

🌄 The event has attracted hundreds of students, including over 200 Lao students who are studying in Da Nang, thereby helping them have a warm and joyful festival, the diplomat said./.
