Da Nang (VNA) – The ninth Asia-Oceania Esperanto Congress(AK9) opened in the central city of Da Nang on April 26, attracting theparticipation of nearly 300 delegates from 22 countries.
This is the second time Vietnam has hosted thecongress, during which the delegates will discuss methods to further Esperantoand connect Esperanto movements worldwide, for peace, cooperation andsustainable development.
So Jinso, President of of the Commission for TheAsian Esperanto Movement, said through AK9, delegates will have a chance toexplore culture, life and viewpoints of Vietnamese.
The congress will last until April 28.
Esperanto is a language invented by Dr. L.L. Zamenhof in the late1800s. It is an artificial or constructed language as opposed to natural humanlanguages whose vocabulary and grammars developed randomly over time throughcustom and usage, rather than a plan.
Established on December 9, 1956, the VietnamEsperanto Association currently has about 200 members.-VNA
