Da Nang (VNA)🏅 - The central city of Da Nang is carrying out anumber of activities in response to humanitarian month, which runs until theend of May.

The city’s Red Cross Society presented 58 scholarships worth 3 millionVND (128.5 USD) each to needy children on May 8.

The programme has been carried out since 2006 with sponsorship from theSwedish organisation Children Above All - Adoptions.

On the same day the Red Cross coordinated with a young entrepreneursclub to start building a house for Nguyen Van Duc - a poor disabled local man inNam Yen hamlet, Hoa Bac commune. The house is expected to be completed in Julythis year.

Vice President of the society Thai Thi Ha said such activities are all partof activities during humanitarian month.

The society aims to support 2,000 needy people in the time to come whilepresenting 80 scholarships worth 300 million VND to poor students, calling forblood donations, and offering free medical check-ups to 200 underprivilegedpeople.

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
