COVID-19 vaccine fund raises nearly 259 million USD

Vietnam's national COVID-19 vaccine fund had received more than 5.972 trillion VND (259.4 million USD) worth of donations from 332,578 organisations and individuals as of 5pm on June 21.

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam's national COVID-19 vaccine fund had received morethan 5.972 trillion VND (259.4 million USD) worth of donations from 332,578 organisationsand individuals as of 5pm on June 21.

To ensure transparency and fairness, the management board ofthe fund has publicised all donor agencies and organisations,including those that have transferred money or committed to doing so.

The fund is set up to receive, manage, and use voluntary financial andvaccine donations and assistance from domestic and foreign organisations andindividuals, along with other legal sources, for the COVID-19 vaccineprocurement and import, research and production in the country, and theprovision of vaccines for people.

Managed by the Ministry of Finance, thenot-for-profit fund will use the mobilised capital resources for right purposesand in line with legal regulations, ensuring publicity, transparency andefficiency.  It is subject to theexamination, inspection, and auditing by relevant State agencies and to thesupervision by the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the community.

Vietnam needs 150 million doses of vaccines to administer about 75 percent of its population this year, with total cost amounting to 25.2 trillion VND./.
