Construction starts on two wind power plants in Quang Tri

The Gelex Energy Ltd on June 27 started construction of two wind power plants with total capacity of 50MW in Huong Phung commune, Huong Hoa district of the central province of Quang Tri.

– The GelexEnergy Ltd on June 27 started construction of two wind power plants with totalcapacity of 50MW in Huong Phung commune, Huong Hoa district of the centralprovince of Quang Tri.  

The Huong Phung 2 wind farm hasa designed capacity of 20MW with 6 turbines, and investment of more than 932billion VND (over 40 million USD).

Meanwhile, the Huong Phung 3plant has a designed capacity of 30MW with 9 turbines, costing over 1.38trillion VND (59.24 million USD).

Both plants are scheduled to begingenerating electricity in the first quarter of 2021. They are expected to add190 million kWh of electricity to the national power output, and contributesome 50 billion USD (2.14 million USD) to the State budget each year.

Addressing the launch ofconstruction, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen QuanChinh said Quang Tri has great potential for wind energy, and the province hasbeen reforming administrative procedures and improving the investmentenvironment to attract more investors in renewable energy project in thelocality.

Besides the Huong Phung 1 and 2plants, eight more wind power projects are slated to be launched in the timeahead, helping turn Quang Tri into a renewable energy hub in the north-centralregion.-VNA
