Construction on a new terminal at the Da Nang International Airport in the central city of Da Nang is expected to start this December and be completed by September 2017.  According to the Ministry of Transport, the new terminal is essential to meet the rapidly increasing number of passengers to Da Nang.
The existing airport terminal was designed to handle a maximum of 6 million passengers per year, but served 5 million passengers in 2014. With a 14.5 percent annual growth rate of passengers, the terminal will be overloaded next year.  Built with an investment of 3.2 trillion VND (144.8 million USD) across 44,000 square metres, the new terminal is expected to serve 4 million passengers a year.  Along with the new terminal’s construction, the airport will also invest in advanced equipment for the existing facility to improve its operations.-VNA
