Construction of first farmers support centre begins

Tra Vinh (VNA) - Lavifood Joint StockCompany has broken ground for a farmers support centre, the first of its kindin the country, in the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh.

The Lavifarm Farmers Support Centre will consultfarmers on planting crops based on market demand and zoning plans.

It will also provide them with technical solutionsand support for processing and preservation of their agricultural produce.

The centre will offer training to enable farmers toimprove their competitiveness and build brands for agricultural produce.

The nearly 17ha centre in Binh Phu commune, Cang Long district, willhave four main areas: a supermarket, areas for services and for processing andpackaging, and a warehouse.

It will have the capacity to transplant onemillion soft-bodied plants, incubate 1.5 million seedlings and tissue culture1.6 million seedlings a year, and package 15.6 tonnes of vegetables a day.

It also has a 10ha experimental farm that canyield a total of 250 tonnes of vegetables, tubers and fruits annually. Thecentre is scheduled to open in June next year.

Lavifood also launched a software solution tosupport farmers called E-Farm built on an IoT and AI platform to help farmersmake plans, monitor and analyse activities in their growing areas more easilyand actively.-VNA
