Hanoi (VNA) – Top leaders of Vietnam on August 21sent messages of congratulations to Canadian leaders on the 50th foundinganniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries (August 21, 1973 –2023).
President Vo Van Thuong sent a message of congratulations to GovernorGeneral Mary May Simon, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh extended greetingsto his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Huecabled congratulatory messages to Speaker of the Senate Raymonde Gagné and Speaker of the House of Commons Anthony Rota.
The same day, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son extendedcongratulations to his Canadian counterpart Mélanie Joly./.
Vietnam and Canada have obtained numerous achievements in bilateral relations over the last 50 years, but there remains substantial potential for them to advance those ties, said Vietnamese Ambassador to the North American country Pham Vinh Quang.
Vietnam - Canada relations have developed robustly over the past five decades, making significant contributions to the development and prosperity of both countries.
The year 2023 marks an important milestone in the Vietnam - Canada relationship with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. It is considered a solid foundation to start a new chapter for bilateral ties.
Vietnam and Canada boast potential to enhance their bilateral cooperation as well as coordination at the international area and multilateral forums, former Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam David Devine has said.
