Conference focuses on Party’s economy-related resolutions

A national conference for Party officials to study the three resolutions related to the economy adopted at the fifth plenum of the 12th Party Central Committee was opened in Hanoi on June 29.

Hanoi (VNA) – A national conference for Partyofficials to study the three resolutions related to the economy adopted at thefifth plenum of the 12th Party Central Committee was opened in Hanoion June 29.

The resolutions deal with development of the privateeconomy; the restructuring and renewal of State-owned enterprises (SOEs); andcompletion of institutions for the socialist-oriented market economy.

Addressing the conference, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc said PartyCommittees and authorities at all levels should thoroughly grasp theresolutions as they contain major orientations for the economy.

The guidelines, key targets, tasks and solutions drafted inthe resolutions should be used to build working programmes of agencies,sectors, all-level administrations and organisations, the PM said.

He highlighted the important changes in the awareness aboutthe role and position of the private sector, noting that State-owned businessescontribute 30 percent of GDP and over 246 trillion VND (10.8 billion USD) tothe State budget, while the private sector contributes 40 percent of GDP andplay a key role in generating jobs.

At the same time, the Government leader stressed thatcompleting institutions for the socialist-oriented market economy is astrategic task and a key breakthrough, which will free up all resources for rapidand sustainable socio-economic development, especially in the context of thestrong pace of the fourth industrial revolution.

To make SOEs operate effectively in the market economy, heemphasised the need to clarify the State management function and the Stateownership function, and establish an agency which represents SOEs and capitalthe State pours into the enterprises.

The leader also called for more efforts to increase theoperation efficiency of small- and medium-sized enterprises and boost thestart-up movement.-VNA
