Hanoi (VNA) – Fixed coach routes connecting Vietnam to Thailand via Laos have been in the spotlight again as the three countries prepare to hold the second conference on the matter within this year.

In December, 2015, the transport ministries of the three countries organised the first conference on the initiative. The three sides agreed to conduct surveys on three routes: two from Thailand’s Bangkok running through Nakhon Phanom in northeast Thailand and Laos’s Thakhek to Vietnam’s Ha Tinh, and one from Bangkok to Da Nang in central Vietnam.

According to the Vietnam Road Administration (VRA), surveys have been conducted on one of the routes from Bangkok to Ha Tinh.

At the upcoming conference, the three countries are expected to introduce their transport companies to operate on the route.

The companies are to meet later to discuss operation mechanisms on the route on the basis of shared benefits.

🍬 The VRA will coordinate with the International Cooperation Department and Lao and Thai counterparts to conduct surveys on the two remaining routes.-VNA
