It is regularlyranked in the list of delicious dishes that foreign tourists must try when visitingVietnam.
CNN said the classic version is pork-based,starring cha lua (Vietnamese-style pork roll), shredded pickled carrots,pickled daikon, cilantro leaves, mayonnaise and other ingredients. Depending on the region, travelers can taste different kinds ofbanh mi with various fillings. "The taste is crunchy, fresh,savory, and utterly delicious," CNN said.

HCM City launched its first ever Vietnam Banh Mi (Vietnamese Sandwich) Festival at District 1’s Youth Cultural House, in order to promote the traditional dish to locals and tourists.
The first Vietnamese “banh mi” (baguette) festival opened in Ho Chi Minh City on March 30 night, bringing together 120 pavilions from domestic and foreign restaurants, hotels, bakeries and businesses.
