Binh Phuoc (VNA) – The Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM) of theCambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Area (DTA) opened in the southernprovince of Binh Phuoc on December 19.

The event was jointly chaired by Nguyen The Phuong,Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment; Mao Thora, head of theCambodian senior officials’ delegation; and Songkan Luangunithon, head of theLao senior officials’ delegation.

Delegates spoke highly of the traditional friendship andcomprehensive cooperation between the three countries in general and the 13localities in the DTA in particular, considering the relationship an importantfactor for stability and development in each country and the region.

They agreed to build and maintain the sustainable andcomprehensive development triangle area as committed by the three PrimeMinisters at the ninth CLV Summit in Siem Riep, Cambodia, in November 2016.

At the meeting, participants appreciated the outcomes of the11th Investment-Trade and Tourism Promotion Forum for the Cambodia-Laos-VietnamDTA on December 18 and the 7th Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam DTA Youth Forum.

The heads of the SOM delegations emphasised the importanceof strengthening cooperation in conducting research on the possibility ofsustainable development, sharing experience in making climate change-relatedpolicies, and transferring technology and experts in natural resourcesmanagement and biodiversity preservation.

They reached a consensus on building an action plan toimplement the Socio-economic Development Master Plan of the CLV DevelopmentTriangle Area during 2010-2020.

Vietnam proposed Cambodia and Laos support Vietnameseenterprises’ projects in the countries and encourage their investors to come toVietnam to seek investment opportunities in Binh Phuoc province and the fourCentral Highlands provinces of Dak Nong, Dak Lak, Gia Lai and Kon Tum.-VNA
