Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – A Chinese fishing vessel in distress offshore Phu Loc district in central Thua Thien-Hue province was helped to anchor at the locality’s Chan May p♉ort on April 20, according to the🌼 local Border Guard.
The boat, which carries three fishermen on board, started from Hainan Island and drifted into Vietnamese waters due to strong wind and waves.
Le Van Phuong, Deputy Commander of the local Border Guard, said that the boat had intended to seek shelter at Chan May Port after encountering bad weather on April 18. However, it went the wrong way and ran aground in the Phu Loc waters.

Vietnam has informed the Chinese side about reports that a Vietnamese fishing boat sank in the Hoang Sa archipelago area and seek coordination to verify information and to search for the fishermen.
Seven out of the nine fishermen on board the distressed boat QNg 98997TS in the central province of Quang Ngai were taken to the mainland safe and sound on March 18.
