Hanoi (VNA)♑ –Child patients in Ho Chi Minh City and disadvantaged children in the centralprovince of Khanh Hoa on May 30 received gifts to celebrate Children’s Day.
More than 330 giftsworth 600,000 VND (26.4 USD) each were presented to child patients in the HCMCity Oncology Hospital and Pediatrics Hospital 1 and 2. Vice Chairwoman of theHCM City People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Thu said that over the years, the cityhas paid attention to children’s entertainment, especially for those inhospitals. A fair on children’shealth care was held in the city on May 27 and 28, drawing nearly 10,000 people.Children received free medical check-ups and medicine from doctors from thecity’s major hospitals. Meanwhile, aconference on preventing child abuse was held in Khanh Hoa province on May 30. According to the KhanhHoa Department of Labours, Invalids and Social Affairs, about 1,000 childrennationwide are sexually abused each year. Therefore, creating a safeenvironment for children needs support from all communities.
