Quang Nam (VNA) — Chefs from many countries have attendedthe second Hoi An International Food Festival, which opened at the An HoiSculpture Park on March 22.
The visiting chefs will demonstrate their countries’ culinary specialties madewith herbs and ingredients from Hoi An during the festival, which will remainopen until March 26.
On March 21, the chefs toured the Hoi An Market to get herbs and other ingredientsto make their dishes, and then joined a cozy cocktail party at Vy’s MarketRestaurant and Cooking School.
They will join local chefs in introducing traditional dishes from 5-10pm in thepark on the Hoai River banks from March 23-26. TrịnhDiem Vy, chairwoman of the festival, will also cook some of Vietnam’s specialties.
It’s the second time that the festival has been held in the UNESCO-recognisedworld heritage site of Hoi An.
The event’s organising committee will present awards to the chefs during theclosing ceremony at the An Hoi Sculpture Park on March 26.
Hoi An city has been honoured by the World Association of Chefs as Vietnam’s Capitalof Culinary Arts and Cuisine.
Hoi An Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Son said the festival has become a rendezvousfor chefs from around world, giving locals and tourists the opportunity totaste food from different countries while enjoying cultural performances andthe lighting of lanterns.

The second week-long Hoi An International Food Festival will take place from March 20 with the participation of 12 international chefs showcasing their countries’ culinary specialties made with herbs and ingredients from Hoi An.
Russian veteran cook Viktor Belyaev, who worked for 30 years in Russia’s Kremlin, will join the Hoi An International Food Festival 2017 in Hoi An town, the central province of Quang Nam, in March.
