The Vietnamese embassy in Japan held a charity concert on May 20 to honour Japanese and foreign friends’ support for disadvantaged children in Vietnam.

Tokyo (VNA) – TheVietnamese embassy in Japan held a charity concert on May 20 to honour Japaneseand foreign friends’ support for disadvantaged children in Vietnam.

More than 120 guests, mostlyJapanese entrepreneurs, attended the event in Shinjuku ward, Tokyo.

The embassy handed over 6 millionJPY, which was raised from the 41st Asia-Pacific Ladies FriendshipSociety (ALFS) Charity Bazaar in Tokyo on April 19, to the Japan InternationalFriendship Association (JIFA).

JIFA will later transfer the sumto the central province of Ha Tinh to help build clean water supply systems in VuongLoc kindergarten in Can Loc district and Huong Long elementary school in HuongKhe district.

Speaking at the event, VietnameseAmbassador to Japan Nguyen Quoc Cuong expressed his thanks to the ALFS, JIFA,Tokyo women’s club and Vietnam Airlines for their contributions.

Participants enjoyed performancesby well-known Japanese jazz artist Keiko Borjesson, a show of traditional longdresses, and traditional Vietnamese food.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
