Central steering committee for judicial reform holds second session
Committee members voiced support for a project on studying the establishment of a public lawyer mechanism in the socialist rule-of-law State of Vietnam. Hanoi (VNA) – The Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform convened its second session in Hanoi on July 7 under the chairmanship of State President Luong Cuong, who is also the Head of the Committee, to review and provide feedback on a series of proposals.
Committee members voiced support for a project on studying the establishment of a public lawyer mechanism in the socialist rule-of-law State of Vietnam.
They said such research will help meet the practical need of protecting State interests, as government agencies and state-owned enterprises are facing growing legal risks related to foreign investment and trade, as well as civil, administrative, financial, asset, and land-related relationships. Public lawyers could also play a role in international treaty negotiations, policy consulting, and lawmaking, particularly in the context of a sharp rise in administrative lawsuits.
Participants agreed that it is both necessary and timely for a project on strengthening the Party's leadership over the enforcement of administrative judgments. They noted that administrative enforcement is a complex and sensitive task, especially when the parties subject to enforcement are often leaders of State administrative agencies.

Regarding a report on a pilot public feedback survey on judicial activities, members acknowledged the value of developing and implementing evaluation questionnaires. The survey results could serve as a useful information channel for Party and State agencies in shaping judicial policies that are responsive to real-life conditions and the people's expectations.
In closing, State President Cuong requested relevant agenc🙈ies to incorporate the committee’s feedback, finalise the projects, and report to competent authorities for consideration and implementation./.
