Can Tho supports environment protection initiatives

Can Tho (VNA) ꦏ– The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho will fund up to 200 million VND (nearly9,000 USD) to each initiative selected for the Green-Clean-Beautiful City Programme,said Vice Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Committee Vo Thi Hong Anh. 

At a ceremony topresent initiatives for the programme on April 10, Anh said that the selectionfor the most feasible initiatives is scheduled to complete in June 2017. The budget for theinitiatives will be managed and distributed by the Can Tho Official DevelopmentAssistance (ODA) Project Management Board, she added. The programme ispart of the fourth component of the Mekong Delta Region Urban Upgrading Project– Can Tho sub-project, with 300,000 - 500,000 USD financed by the World Bank, saidDoan Thanh Tam, Deputy Director of the Board. The programme iscalling for organisations and individuals to submit initiatives on four topicsincluding “environmental sanitation,” “urban beautification and sustainable useof construction works,” “school cleaning” and “green trees.” After beinglaunched, it received many as 15 highly applicable initiatives which aim toprotect the environment and support people’s lives and health, thuscontributing to the socio-economic development of Can Tho city, Tam added.-VNA

🥀 Hanoi to roll out policies supporting green transport transition

Under the plan, from 2025 to 2026, the city will complete mechanisms and policies to support businesses in switching to green vehicles, expand the electric and green-energy bus network, and build charging stations. The targeted proportion of green buses is set at 10% in 2025 and 20–23% in 2026.
