The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho is preparing for the sixth southern traditional cake festival which is scheduled to take place from April 6-9, 2017.

Can Tho (VNA) – TheMekong Delta city of Can Tho is preparing for the sixth southern traditionalcake festival which is scheduled to take place from April 6-9, 2017.

The municipal People’s Committeealong with the Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism, theInvestment-Trade-Tourism Promotion Centre, and the International ExhibitionFair Centre held a working session in the city on November 29 to discusspreparations for the event.

The festival will house 150pavilions featuring over 200 types of traditional cakes and specialities of differentregions in the country.

In particular, 50 stalls willintroduce traditional cakes of ASEAN member countries.

More than 160,000 visitors areexpected to participate in the event.

Highlights of the festival willinclude cake-making performances and contests, folk games, southern folk musicand dances.

Vice Chairman of the municipalPeople’s Committee Le Van Tam said the festival aims to promote the traditionalvalues of southern gastronomy.-VNA
