Can Tho (VNA)- The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho will be calling for investment in locallogistic services, tourism, hi-tech agriculture and IT projects at its investmentpromotion conference slated for August 8-10.
The information wasreleased by Truong Quang Hoai Nam, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’sCommittee at a meeting to review preparations for the conference on March 20.
Nam underlined thesignificance of the event, saying that it aims to introduce the city’ssocio-economic achievements and potential, as well as policies on investmentattraction to domestic and international partners.
The conference will bechaired by the Prime Minister, the Minister of Planning and Investment, the Secretaryof the municipal Party Committee, and the Chairman of the municipal People’sCommittee. It is expected to welcome 500 delegates, including 100 foreigners.
A ceremony will be heldin the framework of the conference to present investment scheme and investmentlicense certificates to the Vinmex Can Tho General Hospital project, the 6,000hectare organic dairy farm project.
In 2017, trade promotionactivities helped the city lure investment and increase export revenue.
Some 77 foreign directinvestment projects worth 656 million USD landed in the city in the year.
The city earned nearly 1.8billion USD from export and service revenue, 5.9 percent above its goal and13.9 percent higher than the figure in 2016.-VNA
