Can Tho asks for Siemens Healthineers’ support in health care

Can Tho (VNA) – Secretary of the Party Committee of Can Tho city Nguyen Van Hieu hosted a reception for Bernd Montag, CEO of Siemens Healthineers, on June 13, during which the host expressed his hope for the firm’s support in high-tech equipment and high-quality human resources training in the field of health care in the whole Mekong Delta.
Hieu noted that Can Tho is the centre of the Mekong Delta with its healthcare development higher than the regional average, therefore, hospitals there are providing services for not only local residents but also patients in the entire region.
However, the city medical sector is facing limitations in science, technology and equipment, he said, showing his hope that Siemens Healthineers will promptly implement specific programmes in the locality.
The city will direct departments and sectors to closely coordinate with the firm during the implementation of the programmes, thus benefiting the whole region, said the municipal leader.
Describing the Can Tho Stroke International Services (SIS Can Tho), which is partnering with Siemens Healthineers, as one of the successful private medical models, the official said he hopes Siemens Healthineers will continue to support SIS Can Tho and other healthcare establishments in the city, especially those in disadvantaged areas.
For his part, Montag expressed his hope further contribute to the local healthcare sector.
He said that his company has worked with SIS Can Tho to provide effective cardiovascular treatments to many patients from the city and its neighbouring localities.
The firm hopes to support local hospitals in training and digitalisation to serve their sustainable development, he said.
