Campaign launched to end violence against children, women

Hanoi (VNA) - 🍃A communications campaignentitled “Blue Heart” was launched on June 4 to call for joint efforts to endviolence and protect children and women, especially during emergencies such asthe COVID-19 pandemic.

The campaign is co-organised by the Department ofChild Affairs at the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, UNICEFVietnam, the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) Vietnam, and UN Women. It also aims to provide knowledge and skills for womenand children to prevent violence and abuse and improve the mental strength of thoseaffected, along with creating a safe environment for children. Efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 may exposechildren to mistreatment, gender-based violence, and sexual abuse, among others.The number of women and young girls in Vietnam suffering domestic violence andabuse increased during the pandemic. Rana Flowers, UNICEF Chief Representative in Vietnam,called for action by local authorities, parents, and governments to ensure the safetyof children and women. Deputy Director of the Department of Child Affairs VuThi Kim Hoa said it is joining hands with UNICEF to build training programmesfor caretakers on psychological consultations and children’s mental health,which are set to be completed in July. Launched in the “Month of Action for Children”, thecampaign has also been joined by Vietnamese artists such as actress Bao Thanh,singers Trong Hieu and Duy Khoa, comedian Xuan Bac, and others./.

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
