Hanoi (VNA) – As many as 68Cambodian students in Vietnam were introduced to their Vietnamese sponsorfamilies at a meeting in Hanoi on September 15.
Speaking at the meeting, the fifth of its kind, President of theVietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association Vu Mao praised the initiative to findsponsor families for Cambodian students in Vietnam.
Initiated in Hanoi, the programme has come to other localities like thenorthern province of Thai Binh and Ho Chi Minh City, he said.
Not only families whose members were volunteer soldiers in Cambodia but otherfamilies have also registered for sponsoring the students, according to theofficial.
In his remarks, Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam Op Sophy highlighted the finerelations between the Vietnamese and Cambodian Parties, States, Governments andpeoples.
He said the sponsorship has helped the Cambodian students understand more aboutthe language and traditional culture of Vietnam, expressing his hope that theprogramme will contribute to preserving and enhancing the long-standingrelationship between the two countries./.
The Vietnam-Cambodia border friendship exchange programme at the level of High Command will take place in the southern province of An Giang from August 27 to 28.
