Phnom Penh (VNA)🐻 - Delegations from the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Phnom Penh on January 22 to extend Lunar New Year (Tet) wishes.

The delegation from the RCAF High Command was led by its Commander-in-Chief General Vong Pisen, while the one from the Royal Cambodian Army Command was headed by its Commander General Mao Sophan. Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu, along with Colonel Tran Van Tam, head of the Vietnamese Defence Attaché Office in Cambodia, and embassy staff warmly received the RCAF delegations.
During the meetings, Cambodian senior military officials extended their best wishes to Party and State leaders, and people of Vietnam. They expressed confidence in Vietnam's continued achievements under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 2025. Generals Vong Pisen and Mao Sophan highlighted the close and enduring bond between the two neighboring countries, underscoring Vietnam’s pivotal support to Cambodia in defeating the Pol Pot genocidal regime on January 7, 1979 and in its reconstruction and development over the past 46 years.
Ambassador Vu thanked the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), Government, and citizens for their invaluable support to Vietnam. He emphasised the importance of defence cooperation as a cornerstone of bilateral relations and expressed optimism for stronger ties. The ambassador proposed continued collaboration between the two armies, particularly in delegation exchange and training. He also urged closer coordination, particularly with the Cambodian Army, to facilitate the search and repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives in Cambodia. On January 21, Vu also hosted a delegation from the Ho Chi Minh City Military Command, led by Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nam, who came to extend Lunar New Year greetings./.
