Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodia on December 15 kicked off the 7th Sea Festival in Koh Kong province to promote and introduce its marine tourismto domestic and foreign tourists.
The festival began with parades and art performances, with foreign guests from Thailand,Vietnam, India and Indonesia.
In his opening speech, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said theannual event aims to promote tourism potential in Cambodia’s beaches totourists and encourage the protection of marine resources.
He stressed that with beautiful beaches and numerous cultural heritages,Cambodia has become a favourite destination for tourists. In 2017 alone, thecountry welcomed 5.6 million international arrivals, earning 3.6 billion USD intourism revenue. The tourism sector contributed 13 percent of the nation’s GDPlast year.
Peace, political stability and effective anti-terrorism measures are factorsensuring the sustainable development of the local tourism sector, he noted.
During the three-day festival, tourists are enjoying concerts and artprogrammes, fireworks performances, traditional dishes and sports events.
Cambodia’s Kep, Sihanoukville and Kampot beaches are among the best in theworld, with white sand, blue sea and untouched islands. The beaches receive increasinginterest from tourists whenever they come to Cambodia.-VNA
The 2018 sea festival of Sam Son city of the north central coastal province of Thanh Hoa will take place on April 21, heard a press conference held in the city on April 12.
