Bui Van Cuong relieved from NA General Secretary position

Hanoi (VNA) – Bui Van Cuong was relieved from the post of General Secretary of the National Assembly (NA) on October 25, the fifth working day of the ongoing 8th session of the 15th-tenure parliament.

Cuong also stepped down as a member of the NA Standing Committee and NA deputy, and he will retire per personal wishes, the NA Office said in a statement after a closed meeting on personnel affairs later the same day.

In the morning, Vu Hong Thanh, member of the NA Standing Committee and Chairman of the NA Committee for Economic Affairs, delivered a report on adjustments to the draft Law on Urban and Rural Planning, which was latter discussed by legislators.

After that, Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi represented the drafting board to provide more details about some issues that deputies were concerned about.

The plenary discussion was broadcast live on the Vietnam NA Television channel.

In the afternoon, at a plenum after the closed meeting on personnel affairs, Hoang Thanh Tung, member of the NA Standing Committee and Chairman of the NA Committee for Legal Affairs, presented a report on adjustments to the draft revised Law on Notarisation.

𒈔 After legislators gave opinions about some debatable issues of the bill, Tung, on behalf of the body in charge of the draft verification, addressed some concerns raised by deputies./.
