British Embassy initiates anti-human trafficking campaign in Vietnam
The British Embassy in Vietnam has run a communications campaign in Hanoi throughout July to raise awareness about the dangers of human trafficking, in response to World Day against Trafficking in Persons on July 30.

Hanoi (VNA) - The British Embassy in Vietnam has run acommunications campaign in Hanoi throughout July to raise awareness about thedangers of human trafficking, in response to World Day against Trafficking inPersons on July 30.
The campaign spread a message of “Don’t gamble with your future. Illegalmigration can turn you into a victim of human trafficking.”
It consisted of a host of activities, including the display of the anti-humantrafficking message on buses and at three bus stations in Hanoi and the north-centralprovinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh over two months.
Meanwhile, a video on the issue featuring British Ambassador Gareth Wardand Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H’hen Nie has been broadcast on VTV1, VTV3, andVTV6 from July 9 to 31.
On July 29, Miss World Vietnam 2019 Luong Thuy Linh joined theambassador and representatives from the Ministry of Public Security at an eventmarking the day in Hanoi, during which they launched the display of thecampaign message on local buses.
The ambassador mentioned the deaths of 39 Vietnamese in a containertruck in Essex, the UK, saying that such a tragedy reminds us of the risks fromillegal migration.
The UK Government wants to work closely with the Vietnamese Governmentto prevent similar tragedies from happening in the future, he affirmed./.
The British Embassy in Vietnam has coordinated with Vietnamese relevant agencies to carry out communication activities since March to raise public awareness of human trafficking prevention and combat, with the participation of Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H’hen Nie.
A billboard was installed in Cua Lo town in the north-central province of Nghe An on May 22 promoting the round-the-clock free services available on the “111” hotline for victims of human trafficking to seek help and raising public awareness about the social evil.
The 2019 Trafficking in Persons Report from the US Department of State does not objectively and accurately reflect the situation and efforts in the fight against human trafficking in Vietnam, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said at the ministry’s regular press conference in Hanoi on July 2.
