An Giang (VNA) – Tan An Bridge that helps connectthe Mekong Delta province of An Giang with Cambodia was inaugurated on January30.

The bridge, spanning across Xang Canal, is 612mlong and 12m wide with a load carrying capacity of 33 tonnes.

The facility, invested in with 572 billion VND(over 24.6 million USD) through the central and local budget, links the Long Anand Tan An communes of Tan Chau town, thereby connecting Provincial Road 952with the Vinh Xuong International Border Gate and Cambodia.

Chairman of the An Giang People’s CommitteeVuong Binh Thanh said Tan An Bridge will replace Tan An ferry. He described it asa historic milestone for his province as it helps form an artery linking TanChau town with the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh through Vinh XuongInternational Border Gate.

Thanh voiced his hope that the bridge willfacilitate public travel and goods transportation across the border, thusopening up new economic development opportunities. –VNA
