Boarding school for ethnic students built in Bac Kan

A ground breaking ceremony to build a boarding school for ethnic students was held on July 8 in Thuan Mang commune in Ngan Son district of the northern mountainous province of Bac Kan.

The school,funded by the National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC), will includeconstructing 10 dorms and a number of support facilities for about 70students.

The boarding school, built at a cost of 2.3 billion VND(105,000 USD), is expected to be completed before the beginning of the2015-2016 school year.

Thuan Mang is one of the poorest communes in Ngan Son with 100 percent of its population belonging to ethnic minority groups.

128students have registered for the 2014-2015 school year, 66 of who arefrom remote areas and face accommodation difficulties.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
