ThuaThien – Hue (VNA) – Domestic and foreign scientists joinedbusiness owners at a workshop in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue onDecember 21 to seek markets for scientific research products, especiallybiotechnological ones.

More than 30 scientific reports were presentedat the event, focusing on the application of biotechnological advances in thefields of agriculture, medicine and food.

Participants said scientific research activitiesare taking place widely at universities and research institutes. However, the application of scientific outcomes to productionis facing a number of difficulties.

For example, some studies focus on highlyspecialised fields while the connectivity between scientists and businesses remainslimited. As a result, many useful scientific research outcomes cannot findtheir way to reality.

Director of the Hue University’sInstitute of Biotechnology Truong Thi Hong Hai said universities aremoving towards autonomy, and the commercialisation of scientific research resultsis important to create sources of revenue.
