Binh Thuan (VNA) – The first phase of the first waste treatmentand organic fertilizer production complex of the central province of Binh Thuanwas completed and put into operation on December 16.

The complex in La Gi town covers an area of nearly 30hectares and has the capacity of treating 200 tonnes of domestic waste and 255tonnes of industrial waste per day. Organic matters are reproduced into biological fertilisers used in agriculturalproduction.

After the second phase is finished, the complex can alsorecycle plastic, nylon and rubber products and produce environmentally-friendlybricks.

Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen NgocHai said that the inaugural of the complex marks a step forward in La Gi town’sbid to become a Type III urban area and contributes to the locality’ssustainable socio-economic development.

According to Binh Thuan’s solid waste management planning,the province will have four provincial waste treatment complexes, 12district-level waste treatment areas and two special ones with a total capacityof over 5,400 tonnes per day.-VNA

According to Dr. Vu Anh Tuan, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Space Centre and head of the project, this is the first study in Vietnam to simultaneously employ Sentinel-2 satellite data, advanced machine learning algorithms, and the Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud computing platform to model and monitor key seawater quality parameters.

🌊 Vietnam ramps up plastic waste recycling, reuse, treatment efforts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.
