Eleven houses in Tien Thanh commune in Phan Thiet city of the south central coastal province of Binh Thuan collapsed on December 20 due to coast erosion triggered by high tide and strong wind.

Binh Thuan (VNA) – Eleven houses in Tien Thanh commune in Phan Thiet city ofthe south central coastal province of Binh Thuan collapsed on December 20 dueto co♋ast erosion triggered by hiꦆgh tide and strong wind.

More than 1,000mof coastline were seriously eroded, posing a threat to 49 other houses in thearea.  The Thanh Haiborder post has sent soldiers to the site to move the homeless people to safeshelter. Vice Chairman ofthe People’s Committee of Phan Thiet city Nguyen Nam Long said the SteeringBoard for flood and storm control of the city has mobilised personnel to helplocal residents reinforce their houses and build temporary dykes. Local authoritiesalso ordered close monitoring of the situation for prompt reports and warnedpeople in high-risk areas not to stay at their houses at night.-VNA
